Job Title: Boat Rigging Technician
Job Overview:
We are seeking a Boat Rigging Technician to join our team.
The Boat Rigging Technician will be responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining rigging systems on a variety of boats. This role requires strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and commitment to quality workmanship. The ideal candidate will have a passion for fishing/boating and a thorough understanding of rigging techniques and equipment. However, training will be provided and a candidate with limited experience will be considered depending upon their knowledge, aptitude, and attitude.
Responsibilities:
- Install, repair, and maintain rigging systems on boats according to manufacturer specifications and industry standards.
- Identify and troubleshoot rigging issues, including wear and tear, corrosion, and structural damage.
- Collaborate with boat owners to determine rigging needs and preferences.
- Select appropriate rigging materials and equipment based on boat specifications, weight distribution, and intended use.
- Operate hand and power tools, including wrenches, drills, and crimping tools, safely and effectively.
- Adhere to safety protocols and regulations while working on boats and in marine environments.
- Document work performed, including repairs, installations, and maintenance tasks, accurately and comprehensively.
- Provide guidance and assistance to other team members as needed.
- Stay informed about advancements in rigging technology, materials, and
techniques through training and professional development opportunities.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training or certifications in marine mechanics, rigging, or a related field a plus.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and familiarity with hand and power tools commonly used in rigging work.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow instructions and technical specifications accurately.
- Effective communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with team members and interact professionally with clients and stakeholders.
- Physical stamina and dexterity to work in various weather conditions and confined spaces, including bending, kneeling, and lifting heavy objects.
- Knowledge of safety protocols and regulations related to boat rigging and marine operations.
- A passion for fishing/boating and a commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to travel to job sites as needed.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with a variety of boat types.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and boat plans.
- Basic electrical knowledge for connecting rigging components to onboard systems.
