Lately I have tried hitting the River for Bass with the kids. Smallmouth Bass to be specific. We have had limited success so far but a few fish have been taken on 4" Tubes and Gulp! Sinking Minnows wacky rigged. Right now the river is pretty and like our lakes it could really use some rain. I'll try and get the pictures up from our little stint yesterday and the day before.

Good fishing,

Corey Bechtold

Here's Cole as he battled a fish last night. For some reason the actual picture of the fish didn't save to my phone. Oh well, the fish he caught was about 16".

Fished yesterday and had great luck with Sucker Minnows. I didn't bring along many artificial baits but with the drop in water temps the Smallmouth Bass seem to prefer live baits over fake.

We rigged our rods with Fireline and used live bait hooks and a split shot weight about 18" up the line. The fish were very active until a small front slid in and shut them down.

Here's a couple pictures from our trip...

Cole is getting bigger for sure. He didn't make it out with us today because he was feeling a bit under the weather.

Today I took out Carl, a buddy of mine whom I'll be coaching 5th grade girls Basketball this year. He loves to fish but has troubles finding time to fish with his growing family. It all takes time to find a balance to get out and enjoy this wonderful sport but it all works out eventually.

We hit our little honey hole with about 30 Sucker Minnows. I was surprised that the fish were somewhat tight lipped but eventually we started catching them. Our techniques were the same as the last time out and the result was the same. Plenty of active fish and a few nice ones mixed in.

Needless to say it doesn't take long to go through a bunch of Minnows when the fish are biting good. We had a hard time breaking the 18" mark but the numbers made up for it.

Here are couple pictures from our outing...

Nice pictures Corey, Plan on going out this weekend for one last try. Any suggestions on what locations to be searching this time of year. Went out last weekend for a couple hours throwing spinnerbaits and jigs shallow and got skunked
