Great info Matt, I'm a big river fisherman and trust me you don't need a lot of water to catch fish sometimes. I guess I would select a few possiable key areas that have the best cover and fish it with cranks or pull something off the bottom, or a lindy or a jig. A lot of times you don't need the deepest water to catch fish.

Now if you talking about winter time I usually like to find warmer water even 2 degrees can matter sometimes.

Thanks for the information. According to the local commercial fisherman, he is always surprised at the amount of good fish he gets in the nets in these shallow lakes. Too bad he can't take them once he gets them in.

This specific lake is rarely fished as there is no public access. The only way to get in is through the county conservation club and you have to be a member. All the trimmings for some big fish growth if you ask me.

Man that looks to me like a winter kill lake unless they run aerators, and that doesn't always work either. The more I thought about it the more likely that seemed to be. That's why I asked about the size. Throwing in the heavy weed growth and the obvious fertility makes winter kill even more likely. We have two Diamond Lakes here in Hennepin County that are very similar and only one of them even has significant bullheads. This past winter especially, there was a lot of winter kill in such waters.

Let me change my recommendations. Find some place else to fish.

One additional thing though, if it doesn't have milfoil or something like that to get it classified as "infected", it may be a very good place to trap leeches and/or seine for minnows and maybe even small bullheads for flathead bait. It probably has at least fatheads and probably small bullheads.

Sorry, but this far north that kind of lake is not likely to carry much in the way of sport fish, and most likely any that would be there will not be large, since the largest fish winter kill first. If it gets stocked annually, that would be a put and take fishery, with most already taken this late in the year.

This is not a lake I would chose to fish.

Many good walleyes were taken last year from this lake. It is almost on the Iowa border. The other thing is this lake is fished mostly from shore and very rarely from a boat.

I am however no expert on fishing and will take your recommendations into consideration. Thanks
