I seem to have no problem spending more on ice fishing than on openwater. In fact I got a lot of problem dishing out more than 25 or 30 bucks for either an open water rod or reel.

The power noodle, I fell in love with it the first time I used it, and then I broke down and got a second one at your sale, which I wasn't going to do and really "didn't need".

So how does the quiver stick compare to the power noodle?

The Power Noodle and Quiverstick are two completely different rods. The Power Noodle has a "built-in" spring bobber with its quick tip and solid backbone. It's made of fiberglass and is surprisingly durable. The Quiverstick rocks and is an outstanding rod, but the Power Noodle is just one of those rods you have to add to your arsenal...

The Quiverstick has a more consistent action, where the Power Noodle is very fast at the tip but solid at the backbone. The Quiverstick is a more sensitive rod in terms of feel, but I think you'll notice more bites with the Power Noodle because it's more visual...

I'm gonna resurrect this thread only because I stopped in the store tonight and looked at this rod. What applications are you guys using this rod for? I do not have an issue with the cost, but I need to have a specific reason to buy a rod other than just having it. I already own several Thorne Bros. rods, each having a specific application for ice fishing. By the way, the action of this rod is amazing. All I could say is 'd**n' when I checked it out, so I am already close to pulling the trigger on buying this one.

I loved using mine for late ice last year. Wielding those larger plastics that are sinonomous with late ice was really nice. You can get more play out of the fish, especially in the shallow water.

Some other applications I found for mine were those inbetween lures that are to big for the Power Noodle yet to small for a sweetheart. 1/16 oz spoons are a great jig to work on it. Really nice on Mille Lacs when some of the jumbos find the end of your line.

Just ordered a 28" Quiverstick from Matt yesterday, getting black with orange trim wrapping on it to match the old Oklahoma State U. colors. Gonna match it with an Okuma Inspira size 10 reel. If none of you have tried these reels, they are by far the best I have seen. The spools are a little taller than the Tica spools and the drags are like silk. They also come with a spare spool that is exactly like the one that comes on the reel.

I stopped in at the store last night, and picked up a Quiverstick. I had to, after checking this rod out a couple of weeks ago. Trigger was pulled, the rod is in my collection, and now all I need is some ice put it to good use.
