Well, I've been up and back again. The river is in beautiful shape, about 42 degrees, flowing at around 160 cfs, and good visibility. Anglers fishing with nymphs and small, single egg patterns continue to hook up on nice steelhead. With the higher water, it takes more time to cover the runs well, because the fish have so many more places to hold. Those who fish hard and cover lots of water have generally been successful. With about 12 days left in the season, it's now or never. I hooked and landed a nice 25" hen on Saturday afternoon that jumped twice, and ran around pretty good. I plan on getting back up at least one more time, just to make sure that the steelhead have enough flies to choose from.
