She was in.. im not sure the name of the weed but it was cat tail type stand up weeds... very choked out... its tough to describe in text but its kind of a nothing spot...

its a strech of cattails, pretty choked out but in this certain area past all the weed growth to the top, it seems to open up a few weeds deep and might be 2? maybe ever 4? feet deep... there might be rock down there, something makes fish go there but it looks/feels like nothing. Well this whole spot is useless but a friend of mine has caught fish out of there before... We had nothing going so we just decided to take the shoreline and cast where we could...

I just made the cast and right away she grabbed it and went sideways on the top of the water...

I didnt really realize how big the fish was, i just knew i had a toad. My buddie just said, "Holy S*** tom", it came up to the boat wtih a pound of weeds and the jaw wide open... it didnt really fight (like they never do with their faces covered seems like) and my buddie grabbed the giant bottom jaw and that was that, just an ideal landing, no net.

He then says, "this thing is over 7... might be 8? ive never seen one this big..." after we weighed it several times and it was going over 8 i just wanted to get it in the well incase it decided to fly.

So I put her in the well, we sat down and i said... "What just happened?".

Its still hard to believe even now because I was thinking i was never gonne get one over 61/2 or even dream of seeing a 7... then this girl hooked up.

Shes at the taxidermist, there was 2 molds made of the body and 4 of the head so fish in the future can be saved and people can get replicas.

Here is something else that blows me away, the guy doing the work said the stomach was completely empty and she was spawned out... too bad she didnt feel like eating a 1lb bluegill earlier frown

Actually it was one of the body and two of the head. I'll have to post a picture when I get done with it. It's the biggest Minnesota bass I've done to date. A very thick healthy specimen. The only thing, which I repaired was the bottom of the tail. That sort of damage usually happens to males sweeping out a nest. Maybe that's different with largemouth bass. Anybody know?
